DLDAV Pitampura organizes
GLOBAL VOTE 2014
There is no
trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty
more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their
welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that
they can grow up in peace.
More than 57,982 schools in 104
countries have registered as Global Friend schools of the World’s Children’s
Prize. Every year,
millions of children all over the world participate in the World’s Children’s
Prize (WCP) program – the world’s largest youth education initiative on human
rights and democracy. So far, 36 million children have discovered that their
votes count, and been empowered to demand respect for their rights.
DLDAV Model
School Pitampura has joined the world’s largest annual educational programme for Children’s Rights across the globe under the
aegis of World’s Children’s Prize for
the Rights of the Child (WCPRC). On 17th Oct 2014, we organized “Global Vote 2014” for the
children to select their Child Rights Hero.
The three nominees for World’s Children’s Prize 2014, are Malala Yousafzai
from Pakistan portrayed by Aditi Dwivedi of IX H, John Wood from USA played by
Madhav of IX G and Indira Ranamagar from Nepal portrayed by Aditi Sood of IX A.
The students of classes VII, VIII and IX voted for
these nominees and out of a total of 966 votes polled, Malala Yousafzai secured
485 votes, John Wood secured 378 votes and Indira Ranamagar secured 103 votes.
These results have been sent to WCPRC and on the basis of results gathered from
schools across the world, the World’s Children’s Prize was awarded to the
nominees in the award ceremony to be held in Sweden on 29th
October 2014.
